Cowichan Bay – Heaven’s Missing Piece

Cowichan Bay is a gift of nature to mankind. This community is located near Duncan and is unparalleled for its scenic value.  Historically, it was the home of First Nations people who excelled in salmon fishing. From the early 1860’s however, Cowichan bay became the gateway to European settlements.  Today, Cowichan Bay is known as the hub of tourists boasting boutique cheese, sea food and ice cream shops. The climate of the area is generally warm; the warmest months of the year being May, June, July and August.

Things to do/attractions

Just as good things come in small packages, this quaint little seaside village is not short of activities and the gentle hustle bustle of life. The plethora of activities available for the residents of the bay can keep adults and children equally engaged. Maritime center and Cowichan estuary nature Centre are especially designed to entertain local and touring children alike. Aside from that, the little village is also home to a lawn tennis club (the second oldest lawn tennis club after Wimbeldon!) and summers see a huge influx of bird watchers from all over the world. This Bay alone features more than 200 species of birds. Summer is also a very happening season of the year for the village since sailing enthusiasts gather for the Wooden Boat society’s Boat festival and Cowichan Bay Regatta. The bay proudly presents numerous options of restaurants and cafes as well! There’s nothing more pleasant than a fantastic dinner followed by an evening walk in the marinas….an absolute delight.

Hospitals, schools, colleges, public transport

The healthcare at Cowichan Bay is taken care of by private medical practitioners and the main hospital and walk in clinic in the city of Duncan.

Local children up to grade 7 can attend Bench Elementary school and then proceed to secondary school at either Cowichan Senior Secondary in Duncan or Frances Kelsey in Mill Bay. The private schools are also very close by in Duncan (QMS), Mill Bay or Shawnigan Lake.

Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit

The most prominent and glamorous feature of the area is Vancouver Island motorsport circuit being deemed as the Disneyland of motorsport enthusiasts. The year round circuit boasts a clubhouse, car storage areas for members, facility center with garage and a beautiful resort in vicinity.  The facility also provides car owners, racers, enthusiasts and drivers to come together and bond.

Cowichan Bay is a little piece of heaven tucked away and waiting to be explored. What better way to explore it than by living there and experiencing the beautiful scenic life surrounded by the luxuries nature has to offer.
